How to make a real Cuban sandwich

If you’ve seen the film Chef (and if you haven’t, go watch it right away), you’ll be familiar with the Cuban sandwich. Here’s how to make this ultimate sandwich.

What do you need to get at home? Pickles, Swiss cheese, ham (preferably a slightly sweet variety, for example with honey), salami, sturdy white baguette, mustard. And of course your roasted pork from last night or from a good butcher.
Step 1: spread mustard and cheese on the bottom and top of the baguette. Cover the bottom with thinly sliced pickles.

Step 2: add plenty of slices of ham, the roasted pork and salami, and press everything down firmly.

Step 3: put the sandwich in a sandwich press or fry it in a pan. If you choose the pan, make sure to press down hard on the sandwich with a lid so that all the air escapes from the dough.
