According to Allerhande, these are the Christmas trends of 2018

Allerhande Kerstedities

Pretty much every Dutch magazine – both in print and online – pulls out all the stops during the Christmas season. The shelves are packed with bumper Christmas editions full of festive recipes and other Christmas content, but the one title everyone inevitably picks up is, of course, Allerhande. According to AH’s flagship magazine, these are the Christmas trends of 2018.

Easy December: of course, the food served at the table this Christmas should look and taste delicious, but an easy preparation is also a plus for many people. All-in-one meal kits including a recipe are therefore hugely on the rise. The selection is enormous this year, including at Appie.

Go all out with colour: matcha, pandan, beetroot, turmeric… This year, coloured powders are in demand. They give your angel cake a distinctive appearance, and what about a bright green crème brûlée? A feast for the eyes and twice as delicious. A win-win, #foodporn.

Alcohol-free: are you going for tipsy 2.0, or would you rather take it a little easy during the Christmas season too? If the latter applies, this trend is perfect for you. The range of alcohol-free beer is growing steadily, and more and more good wines with a low alcohol percentage are also coming onto the market. Not to mention all those delicious juices and soft drinks…

Shared dining: is gourmet dining not glamorous enough? Think again! It all depends on what you put on the table. Asian salmon with wasabi mayonnaise, green asparagus with lemon oil, mini French toast with roasted fruit… Sounds a lot better than pieces of chicken breast and tartare, doesn’t it?
