Teske de Schepper (YouTuber and singer) and Lisa Stel (founder of the Lisa goes Vegan platform) both eat vegan. Preferably as deliciously and easily as possible. Fortunately, they can find a large part of what they need at the supermarket. These are their favorite vegan supermarket products.

Oatly Barista

Lisa: “Oatly’s oat milk is fantastic. Deliciously full-bodied and creamy. Almond milk doesn’t froth very well, which falls flat in coffee. Soy milk does froth very well, but many people don’t like soy’s sweetish flavor. That’s where oat milk comes in. Oatly Barista in particular is perfect for a delicious cup of cappuccino or macchiato.”

Kips pâté

Teske: “The Kips brand now makes plant-based pâté, and it’s absolutely fantastic.”

Sebahat tahini

Lisa: “There’s that brown, slightly firm, bitter tahini, but there’s also liquid tahini. It has a very mild flavor and gives the dish more body. I stir it into my oatmeal, hummus, salad dressing—pretty much everything.”

Satay rolls

Teske: “When people think of vegan food, they quickly think of super-healthy food, but I’m a little less focused on that. I also just want to eat pasta and cake. And satay rolls. I’m a huge fan of the satay rolls from the Vegetarian Butcher.

Nutritional yeast flakes

Lisa: “This is a bit for the die-hards, because it has a fairly unusual flavor, somewhat cheesy or nutty. You can make cheese sauce with it by mixing it with soaked cashews, garlic and oil.”

Ben & Jerry’s

Teske: “Ben & Jerry’s makes incredibly delicious ice cream without milk; the ‘peanutbutter & cookies’ flavor is by far the best.”

Dried red lentils

Lisa: “Red lentils are great because, unlike many other dried legumes, you don’t have to pre-cook them. That saves time. You can just throw them into your soup.”

Oreos

Teske: “If you decide to start eating vegan, you’ll have to give up many of your everyday foods. For me, it helped enormously to also look at what I could still eat. For example, I’ve always loved Oreos—and as it turns out, they’re completely vegan!”
