Apps for Splitting the Bill
Going out for an extensive meal with a large group is always fun, but when the bill arrives, things can get a little awkward. Is everyone paying separately, or will someone cover it? These apps make splitting the bill much easier.
Tikkie
“Send me a Tikkie.” The app has become so common by now that you hear that sentence around you all the time. With Tikkie, you send a payment link to your friends via WhatsApp. Send your payment request as soon as you cover the bill, so it can be transferred immediately. No more hassle with account numbers that aren’t in your address book, and for each meal you can easily keep track of who has paid.
Bunq
With Bunq, you can also send and receive payment requests. You pay with money that you transfer to your account in advance (which you can of course always transfer back to your regular account). A major advantage: with Bunq, the money is immediately in someone’s account (or your own). So you never have to wait until after the weekend to get all your money back. When signing up, you scan your face, allowing you to pay with a selfie. Amazing.
Payment Request
Most people send a Tikkie these days, but did you know that you can also simply send a payment request through your bank’s app? That way, you don’t have to install an extra app on your phone, which saves space after all. Whether it’s the space or the fact that Tikkie is taking over the whole scene, I don’t know, but lots of payment apps disappear after a while. GRPPY, Florin and Sjaak seemed to be doing well, but have since been removed again. Well, at least that makes the choice easier!
