Does an expensive pan cook better than a cheap knockoff?

Actually, this question applies to everything. Is more expensive always better? Esther Choi from Eater investigated whether a $200 cast-iron pan is better than a €40 cast-iron pan.

For this experiment, Esther uses the Butter Pat Industries’ Heather as the more expensive pan, which costs $195. The cheaper pan from Lodge costs €39 and can simply be ordered from Bol.com.
Alternative
What does it turn out? The expensive pan isn’t much better than the cheap one at all. Still want the most expensive of the expensive? You can order Butter Pat Industries pans, but they do have to come all the way from America. So it may take a while. An alternative to this pan is the Le Creuset frying pan. It’s slightly cheaper, but has the same advantages. Instead of a cast-iron handle, this pan has a wooden handle. You can order it on the website or buy it from a cookware shop near you.
