Hack: quickly peel a pomegranate

Granaatappel

Peeling a pomegranate is so much work that you’d rather leave it alone. The crushed seeds splatter in every direction and the bitter, white pith keeps sticking to them. What a waste! With this quick hack, you’ll manage to peel it next time.

There are countless ways to peel a pomegranate. Some people cut off the crown and then divide it into five sections, while others put the fruit in a bowl of warm water and pull the seeds away from the white pith. And you? You just cut and pick at it, hoping there will still be some seeds left.

Spoon trick

It’s easier and faster to carefully cut the pomegranate in half—without hitting the seeds—place one half on your fingers, and firmly tap the outside of the fruit with a spoon. The seeds will fall out by themselves. That’s it! In this video, you can see exactly how to do it.
