How to sharpen your knife without a knife sharpener

Maybe you have all the tools at home to sharpen your knives, maybe you don’t. So how on earth do you make sure that, in the latter case, your knife is so sharp that you can slice through that tomato as if it were butter? Well, like this.

We have the ultimate hack for sharpening your knives without a knife sharpener. The only thing you need is something you usually have at home: a ceramic coffee mug.
How?
It sounds pretty strange, sharpening your knife with a ceramic mug, but it works like a charm. Most coffee mugs have an unglazed rim on the bottom. This unglazed ceramic is harder than metal and therefore works surprisingly well as a knife sharpener.
Here’s how to do it
It works exactly the same as with a regular knife sharpener. Hold the knife at an angle of about 20 to 25 degrees. Within 30 seconds, you can slice through those tomatoes neatly again without making a mess.
