Forget that all-inclusive resort in Gran Canaria. This holiday, you’ll sleep in a Scottish pineapple castle.

Yes, you read that right. A pineapple castle. In Scotland. We didn’t know it existed either, until Prince Pineapple Lex Boon told us about it.

Welcoming or whimsical?

The Dunmore Pineapple, also known as The Pineapple, is an eighteenth-century folly, a structure without a function. It was built by Earl John Murray. No one knows exactly why, but the story goes that he lived in the US for a few years and learned there that the pineapple was a sign of welcome. Or simply because he thought it was amusing, which is also entirely possible.

Rent it

Because it is amusing. A gigantic pineapple in the middle of rainy Scotland. And the best part is: you can rent it! For £249 (around €282), you can sleep there for four nights with up to four people. That works out at £15.56 (or €17.67) per person, per night! Could be worse, right? For a pineapple castle.
