This city in the north of our country has an abundance of delicious things to offer. From breakfast with sugar bread to an authentic Frisian meal, you can find it all in Leeuwarden.

Breakfast – Laura & de Chef

A hotspot in the centre of Leeuwarden is definitely Laura & de Chef. Laura serves breakfast every day from 9:00 a.m. Go for the French toast, made with real Frisian sugar bread, or try the breakfast bowl with coconut, fruit, coconut milk and granola. Also, and certainly not unimportant: the interior is beautiful and it is wonderfully comfortable to sit there.

Lunch – Post-Plaza

A special location: Post-Plaza. The restaurant is housed in Leeuwarden’s old post office. The washbasins are designed like old mailbags, and your teabag comes in an envelope containing a real letter. Besides its appearance, the food is also amazing. Visit Post-Plaza for lunch, or actually at any other time of the day.

Drinks – Sjoddy | Wijn & Spijslokaal

What a strange name, I hear you thinking. ‘Sjoddy’ means ‘see you’ in Frisian. This wine bar is inspired by Italy and Spain. We love visiting during drinks and ordering a good glass of wine with some Burgundian bites. Besides having drinks, this wine bar is also an excellent place to stay for a bite to eat.

Dinner – Restaurant BY ÚS

Would you like to learn more about Frisian culture, including its eating habits? That is exactly what makes BY ÚS so enjoyable. Everything here is Frisian. Think of a cream of smoked Wadden oyster, and finish dinner with a dessert made from Frisian sugar bread.
