3x brunch in Málaga

Brunch is trendier than ever in Málaga, and we totally get it. Because what could be better than an extensive breakfast and lunch in one? These spots have everything you need for the ultimate brunch.

Butterfly Cookie XL

One of my favourites in Málaga is Brunchit. The bar, which you come straight across when you enter, is filled with all kinds of delicious treats: from dulce de leche cake to freshly baked focaccias with jamón, Brunchit has it all. What to choose? The freshly baked pancakes with fresh fruit, whipped cream and maple syrup are the most delicious I have ever eaten. You simply have to try these heavenly light pancakes with a warm vanilla flavour. Go all the way while you’re here, and finish off with the typical Spanish sweet treat Palmera de chocolate (an XL butterfly cookie covered in dark or white chocolate). Or take one with you for the road.

Brunch Deluxe

Noviembre, right in the city centre, is perfect for a little-bit-of-everything brunch. The extensive (plant-based and environmentally responsible) menu ranges from vegetarian spinach crêpes to a Big Apple hamburger and everything in between. I went for the deluxe breakfast menu (for just € 6.30!) with, among other things, a croissant, bagel and tuna salad sandwich, plus coffee and fresh orange juice. This is just one of six menus, so there’s plenty of choice! And that brownie-Oreo cake? I simply had it as dessert too. Because hey, brunch means not eating again until tapas.

Toast 2.0

At Celicioso, you’ll feel like you’re in sugar heaven. This gluten-free bakery is located on the sixth floor of the well-known Spanish department store El Corte Inglés. The menu here is huge too, so there’s something for almost everyone. I skipped those healthy hulk balls with matcha and pistachio and put together my own tostada (toast): I chose multigrain bread topped with white chocolate spread, raspberries and coconut. Not so naughty? Then go for the savoury version with, for example, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes and sunflower seeds. Of course, a bakery isn’t complete without cupcakes and cakes. Tried & tested: the carrot cupcake and banoffee pie share first place.
