An evening with a theme …
For delicious food without any fuss, Hilversum residents head to BAAK. Think dishes such as the ultimate steak tartare or swordfish with a Mediterranean twist. Owner Baki also organizes several themed evenings every month. One of them is the ‘mama cooks Turkish’ evening, when his mother prepares authentic Turkish dishes in the form of a 3-course menu. The themed evenings have become incredibly popular, so make sure to reserve in time.
Ultimate pork belly
For the tastiest pork belly in Hilversum, head to Restaurant Parc. Pork belly is a recurring dish on the menu here. This includes the combination with Argentine shrimp and yellow curry. Prefer vegetarian? Then go for the quintessentially Dutch glazed and roasted beetroot. Be sure to save room for the limoncello panna cotta, because you’ll definitely want to try it! Restaurant Parc is also located at the head of the city park, offering a unique view over Hilversum’s old harbor.
Classics
Dudockx (formerly Lakes*) is the slightly more upscale but still certainly affordable option in the list. We keep coming back for classics such as Tom yam with fried oysters and Reggiano tortellini. Dudockx may be a fair distance from the city center, but that certainly doesn’t make the location of this restaurant any less appealing. It is situated on a quiet waterway, making it the ideal place to sit down after a trip around the famous Loosdrecht Lakes.
For fish lovers
One of the new hotspots in Hilversum is Meddens. A large part of the menu here is dedicated to fish. In the mood for fresh Dover sole, pike-perch or plaice fillet? Then you’ve come to the right place. The restaurant is large and consists of several floors. So there’s always a spot available for lunch, drinks (with €1 oysters and gin) or dinner. Several private dining rooms are also available.
