Almost open: Café Cliché

Chef Sidney Schutte

Have you always wanted to eat at Librije’s Zusje but don’t have the money? From August onward, there will be a solution. Chef Sidney Schutte is opening his Café Cliché on the Middenweg, in the building that until recently housed restaurant Bijvangst. No fuss, but quality. A brasserie with a very tasty menu.

Who: Sidney Schutte (Librije’s Zusje at Waldorf Astoria)
Where: the Middenweg in Amsterdam (East)
When: late August

What’s new?

From a high-end restaurant to a place where you can sit down casually, without a dress code, straight after work or with the whole family. Fortunately, chef Sidney Schutte’s talent and creativity are still present, but according to him, the focus at Café Cliché is primarily on a good meal at a pleasant price.

At Le Vallade in Amsterdam, you briefly feel as though you’re on holiday in France.

On the menu?

The menu will be filled with seasonal dishes. Overall, it should become a mix of modern combinations and established classics. Amsterdam is central; it should become a culinary living room, as Sidney puts it.

What stands out?

Café Cliché will be a lively, brasserie-style restaurant where everyone should feel at home. Sidney is often asked what he eats at home. His answer? Simple but flavourful dishes with funky combinations, which he serves family-style. We are very curious what he means by funky exactly, but we’ll find out at the end of August.
