An Evening in Ethiopia

Injera

Ethiopian restaurant Kilimanjaro is bringing its culinary skills to Amsterdam Oost for a festive evening filled with food inspired by Ethiopian street food.

Maybe (probably even) you’re not very familiar with Ethiopian cuisine yet, but that can change now. On Friday, July 6, you can enjoy delicious Ethiopian food at QRU café. Carles and Saba from Kilimanjaro normally only prepare takeaway meals in their kitchen on Beukenweg. During this evening, you can simply stay and eat while they take you on a journey to Ethiopia. If you want to join the meal, you do need to make a reservation in advance.

Ethiopian dish

Meat or Vegetarian

Kilimanjaro is serving two options this evening: with meat or vegetarian. For €10, you get an injera (a sourdough flatbread) with misir wot (red lentil sauce), k’k wot (split pea sauce with turmeric), gomen (kale) and duba wot (pumpkin stew with turmeric). Prefer meat? For €12, you get a delicious injera with beef and a vegetable stew. Is a meal not complete for you without a sweet ending? Then order the chocolate cake with date syrup, which is entirely vegan, by the way.

Dancing

Moving after a meal is good for digestion, and with the music of an African band in the background, it won’t take much effort. Shake those hips, Ethiopian style.
