From festival to food bar

If you regularly attend food festivals such as TREK, Rollende Keukens and Taste, you may have spotted her before: Dordrecht-based Arzu (with Turkish roots) spent years selling her artisanal sweets as a flavour nomad to the wandering crowds. At the beginning of this year, she decided to settle in one place and opened her own shop and coffee bar with her boyfriend Emrullah on the busy Bergweg in Rotterdam-Noord. You can come here for breakfast and lunch from Tuesday through Sunday, but above all, you should go there for the sweet delights.

Candy bars and truffles

As soon as you enter, you immediately see the colourful candy bars and truffles displayed behind the glass wall by the counter. They are all handmade and made with the best ingredients. Think: salted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, fudge and (dried) fruit and nuts. There are sometimes special creations too, such as bars with lavender, tiramisu, pretzels, baklava or sprinkles.

What makes them so outrageously delicious? The texture is silky smooth, creamy and crunchy. The flavour is sweet (but not too sweet), sometimes with a hint of salt or sourness as a counterpoint. And the appearance? Every single one looks stunning, which also makes them fun to give as a gift. That is, if you manage to keep them in their accompanying luxury box until then.
