Bacon + jam = bacon jam

bacon-jam-op-brie-toast

We would kill for a jar of homemade bacon jam. Jam? Made from bacon? Yes. A spread that is smoky, sweet, and spicy all at once.

You make bacon jam by putting bacon together with onion, vinegar, brown sugar, and herbs in the slow cooker or a heavy-bottomed pan (for example, a Le Creuset). The long cooking time (two to six hours) makes the onions caramelize and the bacon melt. The result is something you’ll want to spread everywhere.

Knock yourself out

What do you put it on? Think fried eggs, sourdough with slices of tomato, burgers, toast, and pasta. Eating it straight from the jar by the spoonful is also perfectly acceptable.

Here you’ll find the recipe, because you simply have to make and taste this. You can also watch this video from The Bacon Show for a recipe.

No time or inclination? Order the jars here.
