Be Dutch Be Orange

Whether we’re proud of our royal family or not, we’re always up for an orange party. And with a primary-coloured scarf around your neck and matching hat on your head, you obviously want something suitably Dutch to toast with. Dutch beer is always an option. But if you prefer a sweeter twist, orange secco might be your thing.

Orange secco is actually exactly what you’d expect: sparkling wine with a lightly sweet orange flavour. A sparkling, no-fuss little wine, with the Dutch flag around its neck and a colour that immediately puts you in the mood. It’s a bit like an Aperol Spritz, but without the bitterness.
Better than Breezer or Jillz
Officially, Be Dutch Be Orange is of course not wine at all. It’s simply a cocktail whose main ingredient is sparkling wine. But only a pedant would care about that. A bottle like this still feels just a little better than a Breezer or a Jillz. And compared with ‘regular’ wine, it contains remarkably little alcohol. Also handy if you want to keep partying for a while.
For Alex, Max and all the other orange moments
Make sure to serve this drink well chilled; that way, its flavour stays at its best. And in a pleasant wine glass—with some orange and fresh mint—it looks rather stylish and festive. And that’s nice. Because whether you’re cheering for Alex, Max, the football players or our hockey girls: you can always raise a sparkling orange toast.
