Breakfast at De Librije

A dinner at De Librije is on many people’s culinary wish lists. But most people have to save up quite a bit for it. For a quicker fix, you can also join them for breakfast, which is considerably cheaper and also incredibly delicious.

As soon as you take your seat at the table, it is completely covered with croissants, bread and various types of toppings. You are in a three-Michelin-star restaurant, so the toppings are probably not what you are used to at home. Think slices of veal loin, coppa, steak tartare and salmon marinated in yuzu. Another highlight is the homemade chocolate spread, with pieces of hazelnut. It is not available for purchase in the De Librije shop, so enjoy it while it is on the table. In addition to coffee and tea, there is a choice of many different types of fruit juice; rhubarb is especially popular.
And there’s more
While you are enjoying all these delicious treats, mini hamburgers suddenly appear on the table. Then you can choose between a poached egg with hollandaise or a fried egg with eel. All delicious, but the real showstopper is the fried blood sausage with apple compote. It may not be everyone’s favorite, but I eat three slices and cannot imagine a better way to start the day. As if that were not enough, dessert is a golden egg filled with marinated pineapple with yuzu, licorice, advocaat foam and crispy chicken skin. Far too delicious.
Breakfast is available from Wednesday through Sunday, subject to availability. This more-than-generous breakfast costs € 39.50.
