Cannabis burger, anyone?

Things can’t get any crazier in burger land. Starting Tuesday, 9 January 2018, burger bar Ter Marsch & Co is launching the very first Cannabis Burger in the Netherlands. A hamburger on a brioche cannabis bun from its own bakery, ‘Bakkerij Ter Marsch by Edwin Klaasen’.

Burger bar Ter Marsch & Co is known for its award-winning burgers, but also for using surprising ingredients and innovation. Last year, the owners introduced the Wiedewiet sauce made with organic cannabis: an ode to Amsterdam and Dutch cannabis culture. And that development left them wanting more.
Cannabis Burger
Chef Olaf Oldenburg and baker Edwin Klaasen had previously joined forces to develop the ultimate hamburger bun, and they teamed up again for the development of the Cannabis Burger. Not because they have to, but simply because they can. This limited-edition burger is made with dry-aged Angus beef, Japanese Wagyu and slowly cooked organic veal neck on a brioche cannabis bun from their own bakery.
The burger is made with high-quality and primarily organic ingredients such as Dutch butterhead lettuce, aged Remeker cheese crumble, sun-dried tomato, sweet-and-sour tomato, cornichon relish, creamy lime cannabis sauce and puffed buckwheat. The brioche bun is made from pure ingredients: wheat flour, fresh free-range eggs, butter, whole milk from the farmer and powder made from dried cannabis leaves. Mind you: the cannabis leaves contain no THC, so they won’t get you high.
About Ter Marsch & Co
The Ter Marsch & Co burger concept was launched in early 2014 on Witte de Withstraat in Rotterdam. Shortly after opening, the restaurant won awards for its hamburgers: ‘Golden Burger Spatula’, ‘Best Hamburger in Rotterdam’ and ‘Best Burger in the Netherlands’. At the World Food Championships in Florida in 2015, the burger bar finished 12th in the world. In March 2016, a pop-up version of Ter Marsch & Co opened in the heart of Amsterdam, on the corner of Vijzelstraat and the Bloemenmarkt. Esquire named this establishment ‘Best Burger Bar in Amsterdam’.
The limited-edition Cannabis Burger will be available to try at Ter Marsch & Co in Amsterdam and Rotterdam for one week from Tuesday, 9 January 2018. The launch will take place during the hamburger competition on Monday, 8 January 2018, at the Horecava hospitality trade fair in Amsterdam.
