Cheesecake on a Stick

Cheesecake op stokje

Freshly baked, coated in melted chocolate and finished with the most fantastic toppings: cheesecake on a stick has it all. What’s more, it’s mega-Instagrammable. So suddenly, photos of it are popping up everywhere. Have you spotted one in the wild yet?

Cheesecake was first put on a stick in Toronto. A food truck called Heirloom has been selling these creations there for some time now. The shop bakes dozens of cheesecakes every day, which are cut into slices once they have cooled. Each slice is then placed on a wooden stick and covered in liquid chocolate. After that, you choose your favourite toppings: cookie crumbs, shredded coconut or hazelnut crunch, for example. And how about a slice of cake topped with toasted lemon meringue? In principle, anything is possible, as long as it sticks to the still-warm chocolate.

Global food hype

Photos of these little works of art have been widely shared on Instagram for some time. Eventually, other bakeries and shops adopted the idea as well. From Paris to Melbourne: they seem to be popping up absolutely everywhere. Just not in the Netherlands yet, as far as we know. We’re waiting with bated breath, because secretly, we’d really like to try one.
