Chocolate lovers, take note: the chocolate croquette is here

We already had the rooket, krokodel and speculaas croquette, but anyone who thought that was enough Frankenfries was wrong. Here it is: the Choc-Krok.

De Frietboutique – known for, among other things, the Amsterdam kapsalon, red velvet fries and fries with chocolate – has not come up with a new fries combo this time, but has expanded the snack display with a chocolate croquette.
Another difference: unlike the limited-edition fries combos, the Choc-Krok will become a permanent fixture on the De Frietboutique menu.
Red pepper
The croquettes – with a ragout made from pure Callebaut chocolate, flour, butter and a little red pepper ‘for extra flavour’ – are made by Rotterdam pastry chef Anton from Banketbakkerij H. van der Heyden. You may already know the man’s fried snacks, as he also makes the aged-cheese croquettes and oyster mushroom bitterballen sold at De Frietboutique.
White bread roll
The Choc-Krok will be available from 22 November at De Frietboutique in Amsterdam and Rotterdam for €3.50. How should you eat it? According to the owners of the chic fries shop, it tastes best on a fresh white bread roll.
