Culinary Emmy nominations

The Emmy nominations have been announced and culinary programmes are scoring highly. All our favourites are in the running for a golden statuette.

The Emmy Awards are one of the most important American award shows, celebrating not only film but also television. As food is increasingly appearing on the small screen, this also means a whole host of culinary nominations.

Anthony Bourdain

Our great hero Anthony Bourdain has been making the very best food TV for years, in our opinion. The Emmy panel agrees. His series Parts Unknown, in which he travels around the world eating the most delicious things in unexpected places, has been nominated in the Informational Series or Special category.

Top Chef

It is not very well known in the Netherlands, but in the US, Top Chef has been running like clockwork for fourteen seasons. The latest season takes place in South Carolina, which means whole pigs on the barbecue, flaky biscuits and other comfort food. The standard of the chefs—most of whom already have their own restaurant—is incredibly high. So it is no wonder that they have been nominated in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category.

Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party

Perhaps the weirdest cooking show of all, but hilarious precisely because of that. Hip-hop and pop culture meet cooking in this show. Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have therefore been nominated as Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.

Master of None

The food series that is not actually a food series at all. The nominations are pouring in, including in the categories Writing for and Acting in a Comedy Series. This series combines humour with meals at the best restaurants and making pasta in Italy. We can only be very happy about that.
