Digital sommelier

You get the wine list placed in your hands and what do you do then? Many people haven’t got a clue. The most important thing, of course, is that they drink a good wine. The sommelier can advise them, naturally, but you don’t always feel like listening to his long stories.

Chef Ron Blaauw has a solution for that. He is the first Dutch top chef to work with a digital sommelier at his new restaurant Ron Gastrobar Paris. Winestein, a smart app, gives you expert wine advice on an iPad. Flavour factors in wines are objectively compared with those of selected dishes. The better a wine matches a dish, the higher its score on WineStein. The app also tells you the correct serving temperature for the wine and which glass is most suitable.

And do you find that wine you’ve just drunk incredibly delicious? That’s been taken care of too. A map immediately shows you the nearest points of sale, and an entire list of webshops is provided.
