From 17 September to 17 November, restaurant platform TheFork is organizing ‘Back to the Restaurants’. From Michelin-starred restaurants to contemporary bistros run by talented chefs, restaurants across the Netherlands are opening their doors for a special gastronomic experience that you can enjoy at an affordable price. Ratatouille Food & Wine (Haarlem)
For years, top chef Jozua Jaring has been cooking up a storm at Haarlem restaurant Ratatouille. After the renovation, the restaurant offers, among other things, a view of a spectacular climate-controlled wine cabinet filled with excellent wines. The restaurant is one of Haarlem’s culinary gems that you shouldn’t miss. Especially for Back to the Restaurants, Ratatouille has created a menu featuring, among other things, gnocchi with Opperdoezer Ronde potatoes and red mullet with truffle.
Vineum (Rotterdam)
Located on Eendrachtsweg, close to Rotterdam’s trendy Witte de Withstraat, is Michelin-starred restaurant Vineum. With a wonderful wine list and an equally special menu, top chef Danny Mouthaan cooks with the seasons, drawing on French and Mediterranean cuisine. Vineum has also put together a special menu for Back to the Restaurants. Let yourself be surprised!
Oni Japanese Kitchen (The Hague)
Oni means ‘exceptional’ in Japanese. This restaurant certainly lives up to its name. You’ll imagine yourself in beautiful Tokyo, even though you’re actually right in the heart of The Hague. Tip: order the Bentobox.
Restaurant Johannes (Amsterdam)
An Amsterdam institution located on the beautiful Herengracht. Here, the kitchen uses as many local products as possible and serves true works of art on your plate.
Normandy Bar & Gourmet (Maastricht)
The coolest place in town and highly recommended if you’re visiting Maastricht. Explore the menu of small shared dining dishes and finish with a delicious cocktail at the bar.
The Commons (Groningen)
The Commons is an urban hub institution in cities including Amsterdam, and can now also be found in Groningen. Here, you can enjoy the best pizzas, burgers and cocktails all day long, while The Commons is also perfect for a lazy afternoon lunch.
Ta Toru (Amsterdam)
Ta Toru is a hidden gem in the heart of De Pijp, on Ferdinand Bolstraat. A fan of Moluccan cuisine? Then you’re in the right place. The three brothers already run a food stand in the food department of Magna Plaza, but around 6:00 p.m., Ta Toru takes over restaurant Mook, allowing you to enjoy the best Moluccan dishes in 020 here too.
Parkheuvel (Rotterdam)
With Parkheuvel, top chef Erik van Loo has created a classic that you shouldn’t miss if you’re looking for a special night out. In addition to its beautiful setting in Rotterdam’s park, dining at Parkheuvel is a true gastronomic experience, from amuse-bouche to dessert. For Back to the Restaurants, Parkheuvel is offering unique MICHELIN Specials.
De Compagnon (Amsterdam)
An Amsterdam classic between Warmoesstraat and Rokin. Owner Bert welcomes everyone to his authentic Amsterdam restaurant, where chef Sven is in charge. Among other things, this is where you’ll find the tastiest peach ice cream in Amsterdam. But above all, let the chef surprise you, because everything that comes out of the kitchen at restaurant De Compagnon is absolutely delicious.
Bistro Berlage (Amsterdam)
If you’re looking for a restaurant with a special historical story, Bistro Berlage is the place to be. It is located in a beautiful building adjoining the Beurs van Berlage and has a parking garage right outside the door—not insignificant in Amsterdam. If you’d like to check out the wine list, Amsterdam Central Station is within walking distance.
