Dining with Alain Caron

We probably don’t need to tell you that Alain Caron is a master of French cuisine. With two French restaurants in Amsterdam and that captivating accent of his, you can assume that everything is in good hands. On Sunday, February 24, the chef will be cooking dishes from his latest cookbook, and there are still a few spots available. Will you join us?

It was only a matter of time before our favorite culinary Frenchman published a reference book on French cuisine. In The Bible of French Cuisine, Alain takes you on a journey through all of France. From eggs poached in red wine sauce from Lyon to Normandy apple tart. His beautiful new book is the inspiration for the three-course menu he will be cooking for you this evening.

Ask away

He is hosting the evening at De Nieuwe KHL (Amsterdam) together with Jonah Freud: cookbook reviewer and owner of the Kookboekhandel in Amsterdam. The two will mingle throughout the evening for a friendly chat and answer all your questions about French cuisine. Curious about how to get that ultimate crispy sugar crust on your crème brûlée? Or which meat is best for steak tartare? Ask away!

To make the evening extra French, live chansons will be performed. Would you like to be there? Tickets for this French holiday evening in your own country can be purchased on the event’s Facebook page. For €35, you get a three-course menu, drinks not included. For €60, you also get The Bible of French Cuisine . That’s still a few bucks less than the retail price, so I know what I would choose.
