Are you going out for a fancy meal with a hundred people soon, or shamelessly gorging on unlimited sushi? Are you visiting a food festival this weekend or travelling to an exotic street food market? All of these things are more fun when you can eat a whole lot. Nothing is worse than ending the evening with the thought: “if only I had eaten that last slice of cake.” We wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone. Follow these tips and stretch your stomach for an evening you’ll never forget.

You’ll definitely want some extra room in your stomach for these chicken dishes.

Eat all day
In preparation for a big meal, people often eat very little throughout the day. They call it ‘saving room for later’. Rookie mistake. When you eat very little, you’ll actually feel less hungry in the evening because your stomach shrinks. Eat something small every two hours for an optimal appetite.

Make the right choice

What you eat is important too. Things like ginger or verbena tea can help speed up your metabolism. Radishes, onions and cucumber all have appetite-stimulating properties when eaten raw. Try to incorporate these things into your diet as much as possible. Avoid fibre, as it leaves you feeling full for a long time. Ugh.

Hydrate

It’s also important to drink water throughout the day, as this helps stretch your stomach. Make sure you always have a bottle with you or a large jug of water on your desk.

Exercise

You’ve spent the entire day consciously eating and drinking to build up as much hunger as possible; now it’s time to make that final push. Literally, because exercise makes you hungry. It’s best to go spinning for an hour (or two) now, as this burns lots of calories that you can eat back later. Not a gym member or simply lazy? At the very least, take a short walk before starting your food fest.
