Every city deserves its own wall

Heading out of the bar/club only to find out that you’ve just missed the last round at the local snack bar. There’s hardly a worse feeling, especially when you’re drunk and being extra dramatic. In Enschede, you simply go to De Muur. Open until deep into the night, for all your greasy snack needs.

Pulling snacks from a wall is nothing new. At least not for us Dutch people; abroad, we’re known for this bizarre phenomenon that you won’t find anywhere else. Most snack bars with a wall really do close around 01:00. If you’re in the centre of a major city, you may be lucky enough to grab snacks until 03:00. In Enschede, the wall is open until 02:00 on weekdays, until 04:30 on Thursdays and Fridays, and even until 05:00 on Saturdays!

Diagonal one

I can only imagine how happy the people of Enschede must be when they can empty that entire wall with their drunken faces. A diagonal one or a horizontal one? Or just a croquette sandwich? I’m afraid my drunk brain would explode from choice overload if I found myself standing in front of the wall in the middle of the night. Still, I’d gladly argue that every city deserves a late-night snack wall. Which city will be next?
