Excellent Bubbles for a Bargain

Did you always think you had to empty your bank account for a good bottle of bubbly, only to find out it’s actually available at this budget supermarket?

Good news for all lovers of a good glass of bubbly: Lidl’s crémant has emerged as one of the best at the Wine & Spirits Competition. The test jury described the Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc NV as dry and well structured, with just the right acidity and a fruity aroma. This earned the bottle a score of 86–89.9, meaning it holds its own against other varieties costing over 50 euros. Lidl’s bottle? You can get it for just eight euros.

There is one small problem: you still have to drive to our southern neighbours for the crémant. The bottle is available in Belgium, but unfortunately not yet in the Netherlands. Lidl does plan to start selling the bubbly online as soon as possible, according to this article from Glamour. So we’re waiting, glasses at the ready, eagerly anticipating it.
