New: ketchup slices
The American (kick)startup Slice of Sauce wants to bring ketchup slices to the market. Surprisingly enough, many people think that’s a good idea, because the startup has already almost got the needed money – fifteen thousand dollars – in the pocket. With that money, the company will dry thousands of liters of tomato purée, mixed with soy sauce, garlic and herbs, in the oven. No more mess with ketchup bottles and never again soggy sandwiches, the inventors cheer. Uh, it mainly reminds us of that dried-up edge of ketchup, stuck to the bottle cap, and it instantly gives us goosebumps.

Cheese-bacon shampoo
Another peculiar invention: cheese shampoo and bacon conditioner. The American bagel shop Einstein Bros wants to promote its new Cheesy Wakin’ Bacon–sandwich with them. The chain is certainly getting attention now: its shampoos have gone completely viral over the past few days. Do they really smell like cheese and bacon? Testers say they do. The scent of the conditioner in particular is realistic: it smells meaty and smoky, and the scent becomes stronger as your hair dries again.
Ramen on your shirt
The Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo is launching a collection of ramen shirts. Each T-shirt features the logo of a world-famous ramen restaurant. Think Setagaya, Menya Musashi or Afuri. And a steaming bowl of noodle soup, of course. Want one? Order quickly, because the shirts are hugely popular.
This summer: a chicken nugget festival
Yes, really: this festival is entirely dedicated to your favorite snack. You can taste chicken nuggets in new and unusual flavors and take part in an eating contest in which you try to wolf down as many as possible. If you win, you’ll be crowned Nugget King (or Queen). Want to be there? You’ll have to fly to London or Manchester at the end of August. But if you’re really crazy about chicken nuggets, you’ve probably already bought a ticket.
