We all have them: favorite flavors, ingredients, and kitchen tools. FavorFlavs we keep reaching for (again and again). These are ours.

Louie Louise hot hot sauce

Our dining table is always loaded with a range of jars and bottles full of flavor enhancers that give breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a late-night snack just that little bit more personality. A bit more bite, too. Or a touch of acidity. And very occasionally, a little sweetness.

Currently, our table favorite is the spicy Cal-Mex sauce with smoked chipotle peppers that goes by the name Louie Louise. A spicy collaboration between Amsterdam bar Louie Louie and sauce maker Let’s Salsa!. The label indicates one pepper in terms of heat. We are curious about the Scoville rating of three peppers.
