Festival: City Food & Film

What are we eating today? An entirely ordinary question. But do you know what you’re eating today? And tomorrow? And in ten years? Because where does that egg on your plate actually come from, who grew those beans? Which wine goes with it? How do you quarter a pig? During the City Food & Film festival, you’ll get answers to all these questions, and more.

How? Through theatre performances, films, lectures, talk shows, masterclasses and discovery tours. In addition, during various dinners and tastings, you’ll get to know the dishes and drinks of today and tomorrow. The festival takes place from 9 to 13 May at the Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch.
What can you expect?
On Friday the 9th, watch the opening film of the City Food & Film Festival: Schumann’s Bar Talks. Join German bartender Charles Schumann on his search for the best bars in the world. Chefs Martin Berkelmans and Floris Gerrits from Pollevie have prepared a menu for Thursday the 10th. This menu is made exclusively with products grown according to good, clean & fairtrade principles. The restaurant’s sommelier selects the best wines to accompany the dishes.
On Friday 11 May, take part in The Great Food Quiz. A pub quiz with questions about food, trivia and surprising snacks. Win tasty prizes and prove yourself to be the biggest foodie. On this day, also watch Canned Dreams. The film is about the journey of a can of ravioli before the pasta ends up on your plate. After the film, Guus Thijssen (Guustronomie) will talk with Sebastiaan Sap (quality canned goods) and Rick Kempen (Bier & C0). The gentlemen will discuss, among other things, the culinary added value of food in cans.
Many activities also take place on Saturday and Sunday. Curious about the full programme? Check it out here. Tickets are available on the website.
