FG Restaurant has moved

FG Restaurant (**) has moved to Katshoek 37b in Rotterdam. This means that FG Food Labs (*) and FG Restaurant are now next door to each other. That puts Rotterdam’s Hofbogen (the name of the buildings behind Rotterdam Central Station) at the top of your dining wish list.

Running two Michelin-starred restaurants in completely different locations in Rotterdam turned out to be a complicated task, Geurds discovered. That had to change; it could be done better. So they looked into whether the building next to FG Food Labs could be taken over—and succeeded. Now the two restaurants belonging to the star chef are next door to each other.

Literally everything has been renovated, and two separate buildings have been turned into one large space, with the incredible kitchen being approximately as large as the dining area. There is also a separate private dining room, and you can have the staff park your car.

Showpiece

The showpiece? The ModBar, currently the most advanced espresso machine in the world—and FG Restaurant has the scoop in the Netherlands. When the barista makes coffee, it looks as if you’re watching a DJ at work. The ingenious machine has so many buttons and settings, but once it has been programmed, it works almost entirely automatically. The coffee? Naturally, it’s top-notch.

Rotterdam straightforwardness

Despite its two Michelin stars, you can dine at FG Restaurant in a relaxed setting. The large chairs and relatively high tables put the focus exactly where it belongs: on the Michelin-starred plate. Sneakers or stilettos? It doesn’t matter. Rotterdam straightforwardness—just the way we like it.
