World’s most expensive ham

Eduarde Donato, a farmer from Cortegana in southern Spain, won the annual Biofach award with his ham ‘Dehesa Maladúa’. This prize is described as the ‘Oscars’ of the meat industry. What can one of Donato’s legs cost? Around 4,000 euros, making it the most expensive ham in the world. The price is so high because every organic pig must first grow for three years, and there is no guarantee that the quality of the pig’s leg will be high enough for sale.

More than 700 million

More and more people are doing their grocery shopping online, and delivery companies such as Foodora and Hello Fresh are doing good business. So well, in fact, that over the past year, the online food business generated forty percent more—around 700 million euros—than in 2014. In the last three months of 2015, turnover even increased by more than half compared with the previous year.
