An evening of eating seven courses, an elaborate Christmas dinner, unlimited sushi, a food festival or a trip to an exotic street food market becomes even more fun when you can eat a whole lot. Nothing is more disappointing than ending the evening with the thought: “If only I’d eaten that last slice of cake.” We wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone. Do you have an important dinner planned, a food festival marathon, or simply feel like eating a lot? Follow these steps for a meal you’ll never forget.

Eat all day
A common mistake is that people eat very little during the day in preparation for a big meal. They call it ‘saving your hunger’. Precisely when you eat very little, you’ll have less appetite in the evening because your stomach shrinks. Eat something small every two hours for an optimal feeling of hunger.

Make the right choices
What you eat is important too. Things like ginger or verbena tea can help speed up your metabolism. Radishes, onion and cucumber all have appetite-stimulating properties when eaten raw. Try to incorporate these things into your diet as much as possible.

Exercise
You’ve consciously eaten all day to build up as much hunger as possible, and now it’s time to make that final sprint. Literally, because exercise makes you hungry. It’s best to go spinning for an hour (or two) now, which will burn lots of calories that you can eat back later. Not a gym member or simply feeling lazy? Then at least take a short walk before you start your food fest.
