Food guide: where you want to eat when you’re in Prague

Food in Prague is all just a little cheaper. For me, the perfect excuse to fit in an extra meal. Luner: lunch + dinner. Because hey, you want something between those two meals too, right? I came back round as a barrel, but with a list of delicious restaurants. And of course I’m happy to share it with you:

Food truck paradise
Manifesto Market is one of those places you need to know is there. Completely tucked away under a metro line, but once you’re inside, it’s so much fun here. In the middle there’s a meters-long picnic table, surrounded by all kinds of different food trucks. At Manifesto, you can enjoy delicious food, but there are also some great boutiques to be found. I was even so enthusiastic that I completely broke my own rules and went there twice in one vacation. Recommendation? The flaming fries with cheddar.

Margaritas with a twist
At Las Adelitas you can enjoy super-fresh Mexican dishes, such as taquitos, ceviche and flautas (a must-eat). Tip: pile some guac on everything, because it’s so delicious here. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff are very helpful. Margarita lovers can also indulge here. Besides the classic margarita, they also have margaritas with tamarind, mint and coconut. Not a fan? Don’t worry. They also have other tasty cocktails, mezcal, homemade juice and lots of different types of tequila. And did I already mention the delicious guacamole?
Opening hours: 8:00 – sold out
At Donut Shop Prague, all the donuts are made fresh in the shops. What’s in the display case? That depends on the season and the local produce. In any case, they’re not the standard powdered-sugar donuts from the supermarket. Salted Caramel? Maple glazed bacon? Peanut butter? And they have at least four vegan options every day as standard. As the opening hours (8:00 until sold out) already suggest: get there early!
DIY sushi
Luckily, you can leave the rolling to the sushi chefs, but at Yami Sushi Bistro you decide entirely for yourself what goes into your sushi roll. You choose your own filling, topping and sauce, and can then also have your roll deep-fried or torched. And oh, did I eat wonderfully here. I don’t entirely deserve that pat on the back myself for my amazing combinations, of course; ultimately, it’s the kitchen where it all happens. Can’t decide? No worries. They also have signature sushi rolls and other Japanese fusion dishes on the menu.

Burgers for days
This restaurant wasn’t on my list of must-eats (which I had secretly been obsessively compiling for months before my trip). Still, I’m super happy that I “accidentally” ended up eating here. The Street Restaurant and Cocktail bar is a small restaurant where you can get a good, filling burger (veggie options too). My favorite? The piri-piri burger: a chicken burger with a cornflake crust. The cocktails here are also highly recommended. I could secretly have had five Strawberry Fizzes.
