Free fries on your birthday

Fry king Bram Ladage is celebrating his fiftieth anniversary on 10 April. How will this be celebrated? If it’s your birthday, you’ll get a free bag of your choice from him.

In 1967, Ladage started with his stall at the market in Rotterdam. And although factory-made fries were on the rise at the time, he continued doing what he did best: serving generously filled bags of real, fresh fries.

The recognisable blue-checkered bag is freshly filled every day with potatoes that are brought from the farmers to the locations in the morning. And that one stall has now grown into thirty shops across the Netherlands.
On 10 April, the chip van will make a celebratory tour past the hotspots of Rotterdam. You can congratulate him in person then. When you go to pick up your own birthday treat in a cone-shaped bag, don’t forget to bring valid ID. Find a shop near you here.
