Fry lovers, do you know about tater tots yet?

You know raspatat, Flemish fries, curly fries and French fries… but do you also know about tater tots? Tater tots are incredibly popular in America. The small chunky pieces of potato are rarely eaten as just part of a simple meat, vegetable and potato meal.

Potato scraps
Tater tots were originally invented as a way to use up potato scraps left over after peeling. Add a little flour and seasoning, then toss them in the deep fryer. The American version of potato croquettes or Spanish croquetas. The modern version is made from grated potatoes with cornstarch and oil.

What’s better than an ordinary tater tot? A tater tot with bacon. Or with cheddar. Or with bacon, cheddar and chives. We collected the most delicious recipes for tater tots 2.0.

For all these variations, use the basic recipe and add your extra ingredients. For bacon and cheddar tots, simply add fried, crumbled bacon and 50 grams of grated cheddar to the basic recipe. These are delicious with a dip made from sour cream and chives.
For sweet potato tots, use, you guessed it, sweet potato. Delicious with sriracha and Parmesan cheese. Two of America’s sweethearts, the tater tot and the buffalo wing, combined. You can follow this recipe for buffalo tots and simply buy frozen tater tots (if you can find them), or add the sauce and blue cheese to the basic recipe mentioned above.
