Go for Goose

Help Go For Goose combat the surplus of geese

Delicious game
Wild geese—there are quite a lot of them in North Holland, and the population continues to grow. At the moment, 50,000 geese are captured and shot each year, and in 2016 that number will be 100,000. This has created a surplus of goose meat. Go For Goose wants to prevent meat from being wasted and has been selling packages of goose meat since yesterday.
National pride
Richard Ekkebus, executive chef of restaurant Amber in Hong Kong (awarded two Michelin stars), was named Chef Hotelier 2015 by a professional jury last night during The Hotelier Awards 2015 China.
Winner winner chicken dinner
Restaurant Twin Trees Too in Syracuse, USA, was robbed. No, not of cash—the restaurant was robbed of chicken wings. A father-and-son duo managed to make off with more than $40,000 worth of wings from their employer. The two sold the delicacy at a lower price.
The dreaded gourmet package
At Christmas, the old-school gourmet set makes its annual appearance on the table, and supermarkets are packed with packages of bite-sized pieces of meat. Toss them in your little pan and enjoy. Or maybe not? Wakker Dier investigated seven packages and found, among other things, E. coli bacteria and one package that was already “clearly going bad”.
Join Rutte for dinner
Prime Minister Rutte promised it back in 2011, but it never happened. However, in 2016 there really will be a Correspondents’ Dinner in the Netherlands. It will be held at the Beurs van Berlage on 10 February. We are especially curious to find out who will be cooking for the Dutch political and journalistic community that evening.
