Gourmet Liquorice Balls for Christmas

The liquorice balls with a chocolate coating from Danish brand Lakrids are not only stunningly beautiful with their bronze, silver or, for example, gold coating. They’re also insanely delicious (and expensive). An advent calendar with 24 different flavours is therefore a dream under the Christmas tree.

Lakrids, founded by Dane Johan Bülow exactly ten years ago, has been releasing limited editions of its organic liquorice balls since the beginning. Usually with a seasonal theme. This year, the liquorice maker has come up with an advent calendar: a different flavour for 24 days in a jar of seven.
Black snowballs
They include classic flavours, but also some very daring ones. From the bronze classic with salted caramel and dulce de leche chocolate liquorice, to white snowballs with ginger liquorice in milk chocolate with lemongrass and black snowballs made from raw liquorice powder with black pepper.
Anyone for a dulce de leche chocolate liquorice ball?
And that means you can use the box not only as an advent calendar, but also for a haute version of the well-known ‘jelly bean boozled challenge’ (just Google what that is). It fits perfectly into the Christmas spirit, when board games are simply a staple for many families.
Gourmet pull liquorice
The luxuriously finished box contains 22 jars of colourful liquorice balls and 2 boxes with gourmet versions of our pull liquorice. Such a box doesn’t come cheap, but it is delicious.
The large Lakrids calendar costs €95, while the smaller version costs €39. Both are available at de Bijenkorf, via the Danish gourmet gift webshop DDansk and Lakrids’ own webshop.
