Camping Ganspoort
Rotsoord, Utrecht’s most up-and-coming district, has gained a delicious new hotspot. At Camping Ganspoort, freedom and conviviality are central. Outside, you’ll find a sunny terrace by the water where you can have a meeting with the wind in your hair. Inside, there’s plenty of space to settle down behind your computer. Another plus: you can rent a meeting room with all the facilities you could want. Ready for a break? Go for a generously topped Viking bread or a hearty salad. Then continue with drinks, Dutch beer and a well-filled snack platter.

Het Gegeven Paard
Are you the type who likes to blend into the buzz and works best among people? Then you won’t turn down Het Gegeven Paard. Here you’ll find a mix of freelancers, students, day-trippers (because it’s just a stone’s throw from the station) and visitors to Muziekpaleis TivoliVredenburg. This is a popular place to work, so you’ll most likely run into someone you know. What will you do together? Eat, of course. Share a friends’ platter, Flammkuchen or indulge in the always delicious cake of the day. A day at Het Gegeven Paard is never boring.

Broei
Broei has been Utrecht’s hippest vegetarian hotspot for three years now. Call it a living room, call it an urban jungle. You’ll feel right at home here immediately. At the back of the restaurant, conveniently close to the open kitchen, there are plenty of soft cushions and comfortable chairs to work from. And the food is excellent too, because “At Broei, you forget that you don’t eat meat,” as Mac van Dinther wrote. Think Shakshuka, homemade bread with roasted carrot spread, and a cauliflower salad with curry crunch and yogurt-mint dressing. In short: at the original Broei on Oosterkade, you’ll be very comfortable indeed.

Daen’s
Next to what might be Utrecht’s loveliest clothing store, you’ll find the café of the same name, Daen’s. On weekdays, you can come here from as early as 07:00 for one of the complete breakfasts, grilled sandwiches and salads. The calm ambiance makes Daen’s the ideal location for a productive day. The view through to the beautiful fashion store is no punishment either, although there’s a chance it will make you extremely covetous. When the weather is nice, the terraces on Stadhuisplein fill up. It’s up to you whether you stay inside or move outdoors to one of Utrecht’s most popular squares.

Koffie & Ik
Say “West” and you say “Vleutenseweg.” This busy street and the adjacent Nieuw Engeland neighborhood are seeing a steady stream of great new cafés and restaurants. Koffie & Ik is a great example. It’s the ideal place to work, socialize or catch up. The first of these happens a lot here, because the calm, tidy atmosphere allows you to focus optimally. The sunny terrace is perfect for meetings, while inside you can settle down at the modern tables. And importantly, the coffee is excellent and the sweet treats are homemade. You can also come to Koffie & Ik for a pot of tea and a sandwich. Find yourself daydreaming? It’s probably because of the great music, which you can browse song by song on the website.
