How to make the viral Greek feta wrap

Fetawrap Instagram

The Greek cuisine has everything my heart desires. Olive oil, tomatoes, eggplant and feta are true classic Greek ingredients, and I could happily eat them every day. Feta in particular makes me very happy. The super-easy Greek feta wrap has become my favorite snack for a reason. And I’m sure it will become yours too.

Apparently, you were just as enthusiastic as I was, because the video with this recipe has been viewed no fewer than 4.5 million (!) times on our Instagram. Can I take that to mean that lots of Greek feta wraps have been made by now? If you’re not part of that club yet, you can still give it a try today. I’ll write out the recipe for you.

How to make the viral Greek feta wrap

The great thing about this feta wrap is that it’s both very easy to make and on your plate in no time. The Airfryer does most of the work for you. You really only need to fold the wrap closed and brush it. Here’s exactly how to do it:

  1. Cut slightly more than half a block of feta in half lengthwise.
  2. Take the smaller piece of the cut feta. Pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Brush the piece of feta with extra-virgin olive oil. Use a pastry brush; that’s easiest.
  4. Place the block of feta on the wrap. If you place the feta just below the center of the wrap (toward the bottom), you’ll be able to fold the wrap closed easily later.
  5. Sprinkle the block of feta with oregano and dried chili flakes.
  6. Drizzle honey over the block of feta. A squeeze bottle works best, as it allows you to control the amount.
  7. Fold the wrap closed. First fold the part of the wrap below the block of feta over the feta, then fold the sides inward and roll up the wrap like a little parcel.
  8. Brush a small section of the inside of the wrap with egg yolk. This helps keep the parcel closed. Then brush the rest of the feta wrap (the outside) with egg yolk. Again, a pastry brush works best.
  9. Sprinkle the outside of the wrap with sesame seeds.
  10. Place the wrap in the Airfryer for 10 minutes at 180 °C.

Ode to the divine Greek cuisine

The result is a crispy snack with a delicious sweet-and-salty filling. Thoroughly Greek thanks to the feta and honey! Want to imagine yourself on a Greek island? Then also make Greek lamb meatballs, tiropitakia (Greek cheese pastries in filo pastry) and Greek pita with lamb kebab.

Καλή όρεξη!

(Bon appétit in Greek—I had to look it up too. Sadly, I never learned Greek and I also never managed to snag a Greek god who could teach me.)
