Hungover at the Bottle Bank #1: Moët & Corona Beers

We get through more than twenty liters of wine per person every year in the Netherlands. So we make regular trips to the bottle bank. What was drunk? What was eaten with it? And how bad is the hangover? This time, FavorFlav’s Steffi kicks things off.

What’s going into the bottle bank?
‘A bottle of Moët & Chandon brut, twelve Coronas, two bottles of rosé and a bottle of red wine. For the record: I wasn’t alone.’
What was the occasion?
‘My best friend’s baby shower. She obviously had to stick to sparkling water, but hey: that has bubbles too.’
What did you eat with it?
‘BBQ: beef satay marinated in lemon, mint and parsley, hamburgers, prawns with garlic and lemon, a salad with grilled fennel, lamb’s lettuce, lemon and roasted pistachio, Turkish bread and dips. Oh, and fruit to finish, but by then the rosé and chilled red wine were already on the table.’
Did it taste good?
‘Yes, surprisingly! I always claimed I didn’t like champagne. I’d have at most one glass to make a “cheers” feel gezellig. That’s why I’d also bought Coronas. But to be honest: this time I poured myself a second glass. The same goes for rosé… and I had two glasses of that as well. What baby showers can do to a person!’
Hangover?
‘No!’
Champagne more often?
‘Delicious. Now?’
