Ice Cream Like Sophia Loren

Sophia Loren – the beautiful Italian actress – is still an inspiration to many. The chef at Leuca restaurant in New York is no exception.

Chef Andrew Carmellini came up with the Sophia Loren sundae for two, made with espresso ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel crumble, meringue, rum granita, whipped cream and an extra shot of espresso. The strong coffee is poured over the ice cream at the table, just like with an affogato .

While coming up with the dessert, Carmellini wondered: what would I serve Sophia Loren if I were on a date with her? The sundae costs $14.
