In your diary: Amsterdam Pizza Festival

On the weekend of 25 and 26 May, you can briefly imagine yourself in an Italian atmosphere, right in Amsterdam’s Rembrandtpark: there’s going to be a pizza festival.

During the festival, local Italian pizzaioli will set up stalls in Rembrandtpark. What does that mean exactly? There’ll be a pizza boulevard with all the pizzaioli lined up, where you can order slices.

It’ll be a little slice of Italy, because as well as pizza, Italian delicacies and drinks will also be available. In the evenings, there will also be DJs playing house and disco alongside the pizza boulevard.

Fresh

‘’We want to introduce Amsterdam to the differences between pizzerias and their styles, so you don’t just choose the pizzeria around the corner,’’ says organiser Odin Giannatiempo. ‘’All the pizzaioli we selected for the festival are local Italian guys who use only fresh products for their pizzas.’’

Pizzaioli who have already announced that they’ll be taking part include Pizza Heart Bar (which also makes vegan pizzas), pizzeria Pomorosso, Mangia pizza, YamYam and Michel-inn. Twelve different pizzaioli will be taking part in total.

Italy

The Amsterdam Pizza Festival is open on 25 and 26 May from 14:00 to 23:00, but you’ll need to buy a ticket first on the website. A ticket costs €8.50, but note: the pizza slices you want to try are not included. Whether you want to go with your boyfriend, girlfriend, mother or younger brother, the festival is for all ages.
