In the heart of Amsterdam city centre, you’ll find Indian restaurant Ganesha. Some time ago, I tested almost all the Indian restaurants in Amsterdam that are worth mentioning, and Ganesha stood head and shoulders above the rest.

Lamb balti

The flavours are vibrant, deep and spicy if you want them to be. A main course is more than enough, and they range in price from € 12,- to € 20,-. The favourite is the lamb balti, in a spicy sauce. But I’ve also eaten the paneer jhal frezie, paneer saag and chicken curry many times, always with great pleasure.

Fluffy rice

The rice that comes with the dishes is fluffy and delicious. Absolutely order a garlic naan with it to mop up all the sauce. Wine and Asian food usually aren’t our favourite combination, but the Klingenfus Pinot Blanc goes wonderfully with the spicy and aromatic flavours of the food.
