It has been proven: people with a high IQ prefer drinking wine

Want to raise a toast again this weekend while still coming across as a little clever? Wine is your answer. Our colleagues at Amayzine discovered that research shows intelligent people choose wine more often to quench their thirst than other drinks. You wouldn’t expect it as you take a sip from your glass, but it’s true!

Here’s how it works
A Danish group of scientists followed the behavior of no fewer than 1,800 people whose IQ was known for several decades. Among other things, they looked at their drinking habits and other personal preferences. A clear link was found between someone’s intelligence and their decision to knock back wine. The clever ones more often chose a vino over a simple beer or a gin and tonic. This applies to both men and women.
Moreover, this had nothing to do with the participants’ income or the kind of job they had. No fewer than 39 percent of people with the highest IQs preferred wine to beer. Only 9 percent of the smartest people in the group chose a golden lager over a glass of wine.
You know better now
Another striking fact from the study: bright people generally drink alcohol more often than people with somewhat lower levels of education. This is not confirmed by just one study; multiple studies have shown the same thing. When someone comments on the fact that you’re pouring yourself another glass (or two): you know better now.
