Antwerp was already a delicious destination if you wanted to spend an entire weekend doing nothing but eating. You can now add the city’s newest addition to that long list of food spots: Chocolate Nation. It’s mainly a museum, but don’t be disappointed: there’s also plenty to taste.

4,000 square metres

All you have to do is walk out of Antwerp Central Station, walk a few metres straight ahead and you’ll have reached your destination. The museum is no less than 4,000 square metres in size and is set to be the world’s largest chocolate experience. Jeroen Jespers and Mickelle Haest, the creators of this chocolate dream, have travelled all over the world to take part in chocolate projects. What a wonderful life!

They brought all that chocolate knowledge back to Antwerp. You’ll be taken from the jungle to the Port of Antwerp, where all the cocoa enters the country. And what made Belgian chocolate so famous? It’s all explained in the great fantasy machine.

Tastings and workshops

There’s a 100 per cent chance you’ll start craving chocolate. Fortunately, chocolatiers are on hand every day to show you how they do their work, and you’re welcome to taste a bite along with them. You can also take part in workshops to learn the tricks of the trade yourself. Plenty of reason to hop on a train or get in the car now and make that trip to our southern neighbours.
