What’s new?

The Industriegebouw was a neglected gem, but is now more popular than ever. Less than two years after its takeover, it is almost completely rented out. Following breakfast diner By Jarmusch, Alfredo’s Taqueria and Old Scuola, Het Industriegebouw has gained yet another establishment: Eva Eekman, known for De Matroos en het Meisje in Katendrecht, is at the helm of this next-level fine-dining establishment together with chef Michael Schook and sommelier Fred de Neef.

What’s on the menu?

From drinks and bar bites at the metre-long bar to four, five or seven courses in the restaurant area, Héroine offers both. Prices range from €42.- for the four-course menu to €60.- for the seven-course menu. A glass of matching wine costs €7.-, while the bar bites start at €3.50 per dish. Curious about what’s cooking? Then you’re out of luck. There is no standard menu, and you also won’t know in advance what’s on the daily menu. Chef Michael Schook: “I regularly change the menu and draw inspiration from cuisines around the world. You really just have to come and eat to experience it.”

Noteworthy?

Sommelier Fred de Neef takes an unconventional approach and searches in unexpected places for the perfect wine-and-food pairings: “I highlight certain regions that my guests are usually not yet familiar with; that experimental element makes it exciting.”
