Kimmade Food Village in Utrecht

No energy left to cook? We get it. But tasty food is a must, so never settle for less. That’s why we’ve put together our tips for truly delicious takeaway meals, the best delivery services and affordable places.

The rich, fresh, authentic flavors of Vietnam: you can wake me up for those. Especially when you pay next to nothing for them. And that’s why this is an ode to Kimmade. Kimmade has become a household name in Utrecht in a relatively short time. First because of the tiny little place on Mariastraat that is always packed, but now also because they have opened a restaurant on Oudegracht.
Vietnamese oasis
It takes a bit of searching, but beneath the cinema by the wharf you enter the light interior of Kimmade Food Village. You can eat rice paper rolls, bahn xeo (savory pancake made with coconut milk and rice flour), bun cha, hotpots and, of course, pho. Those colors, those aromas, those flavors—I could eat here every day. And that’s perfectly doable, because almost all the main dishes cost €13. Another nice touch: there’s a separate vegan menu.
Eat all day
The great thing about Kimmade Food Village is that you can go there from lunch through dinner. And everything in between, because the long table is a great place to settle in with your laptop, and you can also join them for drinks and an Asian beer (by the water when the weather is nice).
