Kombucha: fermented sweet tea

Kombucha has been popular among American internet hipsters for quite some time. And now we can finally enjoy this refreshing drink in the Netherlands too, without having to brew it ourselves. YAYA Kombucha comes in four delicious flavors.

Kombucha is a type of soft drink made from fermented tea with a small amount of sugar. Partly due to the fermentation process, the drink is packed with probiotics and vitamins that are said to be good for the body. Very nice, of course, but we mainly think it’s delicious.
It’s not new: it was already being drunk in China before the year zero and was called the tea of immortality. But in recent years it has once again received a lot of attention; anyone who has been on vacation in Bali has probably seen it on the menu there too.
The flavor is very refreshing, even slightly sour, making it perfect as a summer drink. The four flavors available from May are Original, Ginger, Blueberry Peppermint and Pineapple Hibiscus. All flavors are organic and contain no additives; you would easily recognize all the ingredients in them if they were laid out in front of you.
From May, YAYA Kombucha will be available at various hospitality venues and specialty stores in Amsterdam (Skatecafe, Sterk), Rotterdam (Bertmans, Happy Earth Kitchen), Delft (Kek), The Hague (Strandpaviljoen Zuid) and Utrecht (SLA).
