Man has unwanted pizzas delivered for 9 (!) years and has had enough
During my first job at New York Pizza, we never really minded it when a fake order was placed. Especially if it was for pick-up and the person didn’t show up. No problem at all, because then we could eat the pizza. Just like when a delivery order was placed for an address where the resident knew nothing about it; pizza back to the shop.
That was a bit of a shame for the delivery driver, of course, because they missed out on a tip and it was simply a waste of time. But still; free pizza is always welcome. On the other hand, when you’re the resident, it’s pretty stressful and uncomfortable when someone plays a prank like that on you.
This prank for nine years, really?
That’s what happened to Belgian Jean van Landeghem, who has — quite understandably — had enough of it. In an attempt to stop this practical joke, he went to the press. And it’s not as if it happens occasionally with one pizza here and there. No, sometimes as many as fourteen (FOURTEEN!) pizzas at once. Haaallelujah.
By the way, it wasn’t only pizza, but sometimes kebab or other kinds of food too. Honestly, it still sounds like music to my ears, but not to Jean’s. He therefore concluded that it wasn’t meant kindly, but that someone was deliberately bullying him.
“Pizza terror”
So he wants this “pizza terror” to stop as soon as possible. “I can’t sleep anymore. I start shaking every time I hear a scooter in the street. I’m so afraid that someone will show up at the door again with a number of hot pizzas,” Jean tells The Brussels Times. “It can happen on a weekday, but also at the weekend. I’ve even had orders delivered at 2 a.m.”
Such a waste!
Is there no silver lining at all? Well, it ultimately didn’t cost him anything. But he also never received a single pizza; they all went back with the courier. Just imagine how many pizzas were made for nothing when a courier shows up with fourteen pizzas?! I think whoever has been tormenting this man for nine years should at least have the decency to start paying in advance by now.
